Evan was born into a family of avid sailors and spent much of her early
years cruising around Florida and the Bahamas, and became a
competitive sailor at the age of 8. She raced optis' for several
years, progressing to national and international competitions, in
which she represented the United States. She became an avid match
racer at age 15 and was ranked as high as 37th in the world in the
ISAF Women's Rankings. Most recently, she was a member of the United
States Sailing Team and represented the USA in the pre-Olympics in
Beijing. At Stanford, she has "had the privelege to sail with some
amazing crews including alum Joanna Madsen, current senior Carrie
Denning and All-American Kelly McKenna." She is a captain on the 2007/08 team and A-division women's skipper, "and I can't wait for an amazing season!"
