COLUMBUS, Ohio - Stanford's women's fencing team ended the first of four days of competition at the NCAA Championships in 14th place. Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State are in a three-way tie for first. After the first day of men's competition Friday, the women finish the final three preliminary rounds and NCAA championship rounds on Saturday.

Julia Klepner is 23rd in sabre after posting one victory.

Lily McElwee is 15th in foil with five victories.

Ashley Titan and Rebecca Chung are 22nd and 24th in epee. Titan won a pair of bouts.

Competition begins at 9:30 Central tomorrow.
