Evanston, Ill. - Stanford completed the regular season over the weekend at the Northwestern Duals. The Cardinal had some strong results, including qualifying 20 athletes through to the NCAA Regionals.
Of the 20 to qualify, there were 10 men and 10 women. They will advance to the first round of NCAA qualification at the regionals in Colorado Springs, hosted by Air Force, on March 5.
At the Northwestern Duals, the Stanford men had six wins, while the women had six as well. The men were 6-3 overall with two of its losses coming to No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 3 Ohio State. The Cardinal men defeated Wayne State, Northwestern, Lawrence, Detroit, Cleveland State, North Carolina and UCSD.
The women finished the weekend 6-6 overall with wins over Wayne State, Lawrence, Cleveland State, Darleigh Dickinson, UCSD and Detroit.
Individually, Turner Caldwell led the men's foil with a 25-3 record. Max Murphy also fared well, going 22-5 in the saber.
For the women, Meaghan Conway with 19-13 to lead the foil squad, while Francesca Bassa (20-3) and Kersten Schnurle led the epee.
