Dallas, Texas - Four Stanford varsity fencers competed in the United States Fencing Association North American Cup in Dallas, Texas this Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend.
Turner Caldwell ('14) of the Northern California division competed in Division I Men's Foil. Caldwell went undefeated in pools and placed third in Div. I, losing 15-7 to first place David Willette, and renewed his A2011 rating on Jan. 14.
Alex Khoshnevissan ('11) also of the Northern California division competed in Division I Men's Foil; he placed 36th.
Jake Harbour ('14) of the New Mexico division competed in Division I and Under-20 Men's Epee. Harbour went undefeated in pools and tied for 34th in Div. I on Jan. 15; on Jan. 17 he placed 81st in Under-20 Men's Epee.
Francesca Bassa ('13) of the Gulf Coast Texas division competed in Division I and Under-20 Women's Epee. Bassa went undefeated in pools and placed second in Under-20 Women's Epee, losing 15-9 to Katharine Holmes, and renewed her A2011 on Jan. 14; she placed 42nd in Div. I on Jan. 16.
Caldwell and Bassa competed in World Cup events in Italy and France, respectively, on Jan. 9.
These fencers will join their teammates at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. for the Northwestern Duels on Feb. 5 and 6.
