Stanford, Calif. - The Cardinal fencing team opened the season with a small dual with California where only the men's epee competed.

Stanford defeated the Golden Bears 45-24, winning each bout indivually.

The men's epee squad that competed were Kian Ameli, Mike Hammersley, Cole Conneley and Jake Harbour.

Stanford will next compete at the Western Invitational after the new year. The bouts are set for January 8, 2011, in San Diego.
