Stanford Crew To Hold Informational Meetings For Walk-On Athletes

The Stanford men's, women's, and lightweight crews will be holding informational meetings for all prospective walk-on rowers during the opening week of classes (Sept. 21-25). All interested students may attend the meetings, which are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21 and 22, at 3 p.m. on the upstairs balcony inside Burnham Pavilion.

Stanford's men's I Eight and Lightweight Eight boats each made the medal stand on Saturday's final day of competition at the IRA Championships at Lake Natoma, claiming bronze medals and third-place national finishes in their respective Grand Finals. The finish matches the lightweight boat's highest-ever national finish, set last year, and for the second-ranked men's I Eight, it improved two spots from last year's fifth-place national finish.

Day two of the 2009 IRA Championships at Lake Natoma saw the No. 2 Stanford men's I Eight and the Lightweight Eight keep their national-title hopes alive by advancing to Saturday's Grand Final during Friday's competition. The Stanford lightweights rowed to a trio of victories Saturday at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships on the waters of Lake Natoma, highlighted by the eight "three-peating" as the Pacific Coast champion. The lightweight four and novice four boats each claimed victory as well while the women's novice eight took fourth in its race.
