Aug. 20, 2012

World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships results

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford Lightweight rower Liz Fenje completed action with Canada's Lightweight Quadruple Sculls at the World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria over the weekend, as the boat finished eighth overall.

Canada took second in the B Final behind Sweden clocking a time of 6:47.59, just over a half-second behind Sweden's time of 6:47.03.

Fenje and her crewmates opened the race in second position but dropped to third behind South Korea and Sweden by the 1,000-meter mark. A huge final push over the last 500 meters allowed the Canadians to pass South Korea but come up just short of the Swedish boat.

In mid-July Fenje competed at the World Rowing Under-23 Championships, taking fifth in the lightweight double class.
