STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford lightweight women's rower Liz Fenje finished competition at the 2011 World Rowing Under 23 Championships over the weekend, taking third in the lightweight pair "B" final for Canada for an overall ninth-place finish.

The weekend marked the second straight year that Fenje has competed for Canada at the under 23 event.

Paired with Sydney Boyes, Fenje's boat finished third in its opening heat to qualify for the semifinals and a chance for a grand final berth. However, a fifth-place finish in Saturday's semifinal race relegated the pair to the "B" final.

There, Fenje and Boyes took third, finishing five seconds behind "B" final winner Belarus and just under a second and a half back of Romania. Fenje and Boyes finished the race with a time of 7:15.90 and took ninth place overall in the competition.
