Fenje Advances To Under-23 Worlds Semifinal

World Rowing Under-23 Championships Results

TRAKAI, Lithuania - Stanford lightweight rower Liz Fenje, rowing with Erin Snelgrove as part of Canada's lightweight double (WL2x), advanced to the semifinals after winning Friday's repechage.

Fenje and Snelgrove had finished fourth in Wednesday's preliminary heats, forcing them to go through the repechage round for a chance at the semifinals.

Friday, needing a top-three finish, the pair nabbed a seven-second win in the second repechage heat. Canada advanced to Saturday's semifinal along with Australia and the Czech Republic.

Fenje and Snelgrove crossed the line in a time of 7:39.12, seven seconds ahead of Australia and over 15 seconds ahead of the Czechs.

The top three boats in each of Saturday's two semifinals advanced to the A Final. Canada is matched up against France, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, New Zealand and Germany in the first semifinal.
