June 26, 2012

Rowing Canada Under-23 Team Announcement

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford Women's Lightweight rower Liz Fenje was named to Canada's Under-23 women's lightweight double boat, Rowing Canada announced Tuesday.

She will be paired with Erin Snelgrove.

Fenje will make her third straight appearance in the lightweight double at this summer's Under-23 World Championships, which run from July 11-15 in Lithuania.

"We are all really proud of Liz," said Stanford Lightweight Rowing head coach Al Acosta. "She has had a great year at Stanford in terms of leadership and performance, she's worked really hard, and this being her third U-23 world championship I imagine she'll be more confident than ever on the international stage."

Last year, Fenje took ninth in the event, following a fifth-place finish at the 2010 event.

This past season at Stanford, Fenje, a junior, helped the Cardinal varsity capture its third straight IRA National Championship. She was named to the CRCA Lightweight All-America Team for the second straight year.
