Graduating last spring in the 2005-2006 academic year caused me to take a step out of the present and journey back to the past with my fellow graduating classmates. Many of my memories, with no surprise, are filled with the exciting and warming experiences with my teammates, coaches, fans, Cage Club and the rest of the Stanford community. One of my favorite moments was the first week I arrived on Stanford Campus. After attending many of the freshman orientation activities during the day, Josh Childress, Rob Little and I decided to opt out of attending the late night activities and sneak in to Maples Pavilion at night to shoot. For all of us, it is a memory that we will always cherish because it reminds us of the beginning of journey that we wish would have never ended. I am grateful I have the opportunity to be at such a special place.
As the 2005-2006 season approaches, the team and I are anxious to start the season with a clean slate and are hungry for the opportunity that awaits us. Sadly we are losing two key players in Nick Robinson and Rob Little. Their leadership and presence will certainly be missed, but we have three new ambitious freshmen that will be a great addition to our team. This summer, the team has been working hard in the weight room and on the floor to improve as basketball players, while having still managing to have fun off the court.
I am eager to begin practice with Coach Johnson and the rest of the coaching staff as we work to regain the PAC-10 Championship. I'm sure the fans and the community are just as fervent as the team is to continue to be one of the elite college basketball programs in the nation.
It is impossible to have remained as one such an elite program without the reliable and invaluable support system that the Cage Club and the Stanford community provides our team with each year. The coaching staff and the team cannot thank you enough! I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the games and Stanford Basketball events. Thanks again for your generous support. God Bless!
