The Cardinal's four-year starter, who had the greatest hit in Stanford history, broke five school and Pac-10 records in the late 1980s. But what he will be remembered for is his grand slam, to beat LSU, in the 10th inning, which gave Stanford its first NCAA Championship in 1987. The 1987 National Freshman of the Year was also a part of the 1988 championship and as a senior, set the school-record for wins (59). During his career he set the record for home runs (56), RBIs (220), games played (268), at-bats (983) and total bases (569), finishing his career in the top-10 in nine of 11 offensive categories.
