| Among the first Stanford oarsmen to represent the Cardinal at the Olympic Games, Jim Fifer twice rowed for the U.S. at the Olympic Games (1952, ’56), claiming a gold medal in at the 1956 Melbourne Games. At Helsinki, Finland in 1952, Fifer was part of the men’s coxed pair with fellow Cardinal rowers Jim Beggs and Duvall Hecht, and in 1956 paired with Hecht in the men’s pair “without” to claim Olympic gold. | |||||||||
