| Though he never won an NCAA title, Jack Douglas was one of the top collegiate tennis players of his day while also serving as Stanford’s star quarterback. Alongside doubles partner Jack Frost, Douglas came close to a doubles title in 1956 before falling in the semifinals; two years later, he won six of seven singles matches in the NCAA tournament en route to a second-place team finish. The three-time U.S. representative at the Davis Cup also scored the winning touchdown in the 1957 Big Game, the final contest before renowned head coach Chuck Taylor retired. | |||||||||
