Hole player Jody Campbell, a key part of Stanford’s high-scoring offense from 1978-81, was thrice named an All-American (1979-81) and helped lead the Cardinal to three NCAA titles (1978, ’80-81). Campbell would score 184 goals over those three All-America seasons, topping off with 71 goals as a senior in 1981 and leading the Cardinal in scoring in 1979 and ’80. The three-time NCAA champion and All-American also holds a place in Stanford men’s water polo history as one of just four Cardinal alumni to have been named to three Olympic Teams (1980, ’84, ’88), helping the U.S. the silver medal at both the 1984 Los Angeles Games and the 1988 Seoul Games. A member of the U.S. National Team from 1978-88, Campbell was enshrined in the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame in 1994 alongside former Stanford teammate Doug Burke.
