Jeff Ballard, the Cardinal's four-year letterman, established a school-record for wins, going 37-15 with a 3.91 ERA from 1982 to 1985. He struck out 316, amongst the top-five all-time. During his senior season, he tied a single-season record with 14 wins. He led the Cardinal to four NCAA Regionals and three College World Series appearances before embarking on a professional career with the Orioles and Pirates.
