| While at Stanford, Jennifer Azzi was the 1990 Naismith National Player of the Year, as well as winner of the Wade Trophy and Honda-Broderick Award. Azzi was a two-time Kodak All-American and Pac-10 Player of the Year (1989-90), becoming the first Stanford player to ever earn each honor. Azzi averaged 13.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game for the Cardinal during her career, as the Cardinal accumulated a 101-23 record, two Pac-10 championships and its first NCAA Championship in 1990. Azzi ended her career on The Farm as the school’s career leader in three-pointers made (19) and attempted (423), assists (751) and steals (271). After her Stanford career, Azzi’s basketball success continued, as she was a member the gold medal-winning 1996 U.S. Olympic team. While on the USA Basketball Senior National Team, Azzi was thrice part of FIBA World Championship teams, winning gold in 1990 and 1998, and bronze in 1994. Also in 1994, Azzi earned gold with the team at the Goodwill Games. Professionally, Azzi played domestically for the ABL’s San Jose Lasers (1996-98), and then for the Detroit Shock (1999) and Utah Starzz/San Antonio Silver Stars (2000-03) in the WNBA. She began her first collegiate head coaching job with USF in 2010. | |||||||||||
