| A “lightening-fast newcomer”, Anderson was an All-Pacific Coast selection in his one and only year at Stanford, playing for Everett Dean, who took over the program that year. A year later, “Forddy” enlisted in the Navy to fight in World War II. One of the most innovative coaches of the era, the Indiana native returned to the Midwest at the age of 25 and eventually landed at Drake in 1946 to start a near 25 year collegiate coaching career, coaching Drake University from 1946-48, Bradley from 1948-54, Michigan State from 1954 to 1965 and Hiram Scott College from 1965-70. He went onto become a scout for the Celtics in the 1980s and 1990s, building some of those great Boston teams. He died in 1999 at the age of 80. | |||||||||||
