| Ed Sprague was the starting third baseman and one of the team's top hitters on the 1987 and 1988 NCAA Championship teams. He also won back-to-back World Series with the Blue Jays in 1992 and 1993. Sprague started 138 of 139 games in 1987 and 1988, finishing his career among the school's all-time best in home runs (41) and RBIs (178). A career .330 hitter, he hit .330 with 16 homers and 69 RBIs during the first NCAA title run in 1987 before hitting .339, with 22 homers and 81 RBIs in 1988. A two-time First-Team All-Pac-10 honoree and a 1988 All-American, he was also a member of the 1988 United States' gold medal winning Olympic Team for coach Mark Marquess. He was a first round draft pick by Toronto Blue Jays in the 1988 MLB Draft and went onto a 10-year Major League career. | |||||||||||
