| Krenz became the sixth Stanford athlete and second in 1930 to set a world record in track, heaving a discus 167'5 3/8, after teammate Harlow Rothert also set a world record in the shot put. At the 1929 NCAA Championships, he was second in the shot put and sixth in the discus as Stanford finished fifth at Stagg Field in Chicago. As a captain of the 1930 team, he was second at NCAAs in the shot and discus. In 1931, Krenz' life ended tragically, when he succumbed to cramps while swimming in Lake Tahoe. According to reports at the time, he was “certain to win points for America in the 1932 Olympic Games.“ | |||||||||
