| Two-time All-American Drew McDonald was among the Cardinal players that helped lift Stanford men’s water polo to the pinnacle of the sport with the capture of the program’s first NCAA title in 1976. A big defender at 6-4, 200 lbs., McDonald not only thrived on the defensive end but also made solid contributions on offense, routinely being among the Cardinal’s top three scorers. He earned All-America honors following the 1975 and ’76 seasons, and played a key role on the defensive end for Stanford’s 1976 national championship team. Following his career on The Farm, McDonald played for the U.S. National Team from 1977-84, being named to two Olympic Teams (1980, ’84) and winning a silver medal with the 1984 squad. In 1991, McDonald was enshrined in the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame. | |||||||||||
