Arthur “Dan” Ayrault (far left) holds a distinctive place in Stanford Rowing history as the only Cardinal oarsman to win two Olympic Gold Medals. Ayrault’s first Olympic appearance came at the 1956 Melbourne Games, where he combined with fellow future Stanford Hall of Famers Kurt Seiffert and Conn Findlay in the U.S. men’s coxed pair to capture the gold. Four years later at the 1960 Rome Games, Ayrault was a member of the men’s four that claimed the gold medal.
