Program Endowment
The costs of salaries and benefits, recruiting,
team travel and other expenses are escalating, some of themfaster than
the rate of inflation. The long-term solution to offsetting the cost of
these expenses is endowment. An endowment fund for the fencing
program can be established for $100,000 or more. Each gift of endowment for fencing is invested and earns annual income for the operating
budget in perpetuity.
Scholarship Endowment
Endowed scholarship funds help provide the resources
necessary to attract talented fencing student-athletes to Stanford. A fund can be named
for the donor or for someone the donor chooses to honor.
Endowed scholarship
funds are invested with the University's endowment and earn income
in perpetuity for student aid. The Board of Trustees established a payout
rate to protect the purchasing power of the endowment. Earnings and appreciation
over the payout rate are plowed back into the principal to keep it growing.
An endowment
to support a full athletic grant-in-aid can be established with a gift
of $900,000. An endowed partial scholarship fund may be established at
a minimum level of $250,000.
