STANFORD, Calif.-- Senior Teresa Noyola (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto High School) of the Stanford women’s soccer team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 29-Dec. 4.
Noyola headed in the winning goal in the 53rd minute to give Stanford a 1-0 victory over Duke in the NCAA College Cup final, allowing the Cardinal to capture its first national championship.
Her 9 goals and 15 assists contributed to a 25-0-1 season. In her four year career, Stanford went 95-4-4, never lost a home match, and reached four NCAA College Cups, including three finals. The match capped a big year for Noyola that also included playing for the Mexican national team in the Women’s World Cup.
This is Noyola’s first Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor and the first for the women’s soccer team in the 2010-11 season. Noyola was named to the College Cup All-Tournament team and recently was named as a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy, college soccer’s most prestigious award.
