Previous Muscle Milk Student-Athletes of the Week
STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomore forward Chiney Ogwumike (Cypress, Texas) of the Stanford women's basketball team has been named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 7-13.
This is Ogwumike's first career Muscle Milk honor and the first for the Stanford women's basketball team this season.
Ogwumike averaged 17.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in Stanford's season-opening wins over No. 24/20 Texas and Gonzaga. She also shot 53.3 percent from the field over the weekend. Friday night, with the Cardinal playing without preseason All-American and Chiney's older sister Nneka, Chiney led the Cardinal with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
She followed that up by going 9-of-14 from the field and scoring 19 points with six rebounds in Sunday's 76-61 win over Gonzaga.
Ogwumike and the fifth-ranked Cardinal will host Old Dominion Thursday night at 7 p.m. before embarking on a week-long East Coast trip that begins with Monday's 4:30 p.m. PT contest at Connecticut on ESPNU.
