STANFORD, Calif.-- Quarterback Andrew Luck has been named Stanford's Muscle Milk Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance in Stanford's 52-17 victory over Sacramento State on Saturday.

muscle milk logoLuck completed 17-of-23 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns in the Cardinal's season-opening victory over the Hornets. The four touchdowns were a career best and the most by a Stanford quarterback since Trent Edwards tossed four TDs against San Jose State in 2006. His 316 passing yards were the second highest of his career, trailing only his 423-yard effort last year against Arizona. Included among his four touchdown passes was a career-long 81 yard bomb to Doug Baldwin, which ranked as the eighth longest touchdown pass in school history.

Also nominated were: Becky Dru (field hockey), Alex Gits (women's cross country), Alix Klineman (women's volleyball), J.T. Sullican (men's cross country), Jacob Smith (men's water polo) and Bobby Warshaw (men's soccer).
