Alix Klineman Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week
Junior Alix Klineman (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa High School) of the Stanford women’s volleyball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 28 – Oct. 4.

Junior outside hitter Alix Klineman (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa High School) of the No. 7 Stanford women’s volleyball team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 28 – Oct. 4.
With Conference play in full swing, Klineman led 11th-ranked Stanford to a pair of wins over ranked teams, No. 16 UCLA and No. 13 USC. Against the Bruins, she tied a then-season-high with 23 kills on a career-high 65 attempts. She tallied 10 digs at UCLA, giving the All-American her third double-double of the season, while also contributing a season-high five solo blocks. Stanford remains undefeated (18-0) against UCLA under head coach John Dunning.
Against USC, a match televised by FSN, Klineman turned in another huge performance posting a season-high 24 kills and registering 11 digs for her second straight double-double. She now leads the team with 165 kills on the year, including 70 in the three conference matches.
For the weekend, the junior outside hitter totaled 47 kills, 21 digs, six solo blocks and 53 points for the Cardinal. Klineman ranks sixth in the Pac-10 in kills per set with 3.67. .
Klineman was also named the Pac-10 Player of the Week on Monday, the third such honor of her career.
This is Klineman’s second Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor and the first for the women’s volleyball team in the 2009 season. Klineman and the Cardinal will return to action Oct. 9 at Maples Pavilion to face No. 25 Washington State at 7 p.m. before facing third-ranked Washington, Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
