STANFORD, Calif.- Freshman Mariah Stackhouse has been named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 11-17.

The honor is the first for a women's golfer since Feb. 16, 2010, when Sally Watson shared medalist honors in leading Stanford to a team title at the Peg Barnard Invitational.

A native of Riverdale, Ga., Stackhouse shot a course-record 26 (-9) over the front nine and finished her round at 61 (-10) to establish a course record and capture the Peg Barnard Invitational title. Additionally, the Cardinal claimed the team crown with a score of 569 (289-280) to finish 14 strokes ahead of California at 583 (285-298).

Playing in her first tournament since October, Stackhouse's round of 61 represented a collegiate record, according to research confirmed by the NCAA. Of the four players who previously carded a round of -9, none produced a lower score through nine holes (courtesy Golfweek, Golfstat).

Stackhouse, who finished the tournament at 130 (69-61) overall, totaled eight birdies and two eagles to finish 10 strokes ahead of San Jose State's Regina DeGuzman and UC Davis' Demi Runas, who tied for second at 140.

Heading into the back nine, Stackhouse made an early birdie on the 12th hole but two consecutive bogeys followed. That, however, did not stop her from finishing a solid performance, making two consecutive birdies on the 16th and 17th holes.

Sophomore Mariko Tumangan previously held the course record at 63.

Stanford is back in action on Feb. 25-26, competing in the Cal Classic at Ruby Hill Golf Club in Pleasanton.
