To meet the NCAA progress towards degree rules, students who enrolled in college on or after August 1, 2003, must meet the following requirements each fall:
By the beginning of your second year in college:
have completed 36 units during your freshmen year (includes summer school);
have completed 27 units during your freshmen regular academic year (fall/winter/spring);
maintain at least a 1.8 cumulative GPA (90% of Stanford’s required 2.0) after each term.
By the beginning of your third year in college:
have declared a major;
have completed 27 units during the previous regular academic year (fall/winter/spring);
have completed at least 40% of your degree;
maintain at least a 1.9 cumulative GPA (95% of Stanford’s required 2.0) after each term.
By the beginning of your fourth year in college:
have completed 27 units during the previous regular academic year (fall/winter/spring);
have completed at least 60% of your degree;
maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative gpa (100% of Stanford’s required 2.0) after each term.
By the beginning of your fifth year in college:
have completed 27 units during the previous regular academic year (fall/winter/spring);
have completed at least 80% of your degree;
maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative gpa (100% of Stanford’s required 2.0) after each term.
"Athletic/Activity" units include credits awarded for varsity sport participation, recreation classes and band participation etc. Only the first eight units of athletic/activity credit noted on your transcript will count towards six-unit completion and be used to calculate degree completion. (DO NOT COUNT ON ATHLETIC UNITS FOR NCAA ACADEMIC CERTIFICATION – RELY ONLY ON ACADEMIC UNITS.)
