  • Required Full-Time Enrollment: You must be enrolled in 12 units to be permitted to practice and compete. The NCAA allows you to practice for five days at the beginning of the quarter without being enrolled in 12 units if you are not competing. Beginning with the sixth day, you must be enrolled in at least 12 units to remain eligible for practice. Enrollment updates are provided to coaches at 8am daily.
  • Permissible Less Than 12 Unit Enrollment: There are limited conditions under which a student-athlete can be enrolled in less than 12 units. Prior approval must be gained from the Compliance Services Office to enrolling in less than 12 units.
  • Terminal Term of Attendance: Student-athletes who are in their final term of attendance and who plan to graduate at the end of the quarter, may enroll in the number of units required for graduation.   • Graduate Student Status: A student-athlete who has completed their undergraduate coursework and is pursing graduate work, may enroll in the full-time course load approved by the specific graduate department, which is often 9-10units. Student-athletes must submit their departmental full-time enrollment policy to the Compliance Services Office in order to be approved to enroll in less than 12 units.
  • Winter Term Graduates: Student-athletes who graduate at the end of winter quarter may continue to participate in collegiate athletics without being enrolled in any units in the spring quarter in order to complete the competitive playing season
