STANFORD, Calif. – No. 10 Stanford’s season came to a close Sunday night when it was not selected as an at-large team for the NCAA Tournament.

Stanford needed an at-large bid to secure a spot in the tournament after Liberty claimed the conference's automatic NCAA Tournament berth by winning the NorPac Championship.

The Cardinal was not chosen and will miss the NCAA Tournament for the first time in seven seasons.

Despite not being selected, Stanford has a lot to be proud of this season, finishing with a 16-5 record, earning its fifth consecutive NorPac West regular season title and appearing in its eighth straight NorPac Championship final.

Still, it was a tough result for the Cardinal, which played one of the nation’s toughest schedules and boasted one of the top defenses in the country. Stanford went 4-3 against top-20 opponents, with three of its wins coming on the road, and was ranked in the top-five in the NCAA in goals-against average and save percentage for almost the entire season.

The Cardinal spent each week ranked 13th or higher in the coaches’ poll, including a No. 6 ranking for two consecutive weeks.

Stanford played seven teams that earned bids in the NCAA Tournament and went 3-4 against those opponents.
