STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford head coach Tara Danielson has announced the signing of four recruits to National Letters of Intent. The group will join the Cardinal for the 2013 campaign.

The highly-touted class includes: Kristina Bassi (Mountain View, Calif.), Caroline Beaudoin (Yorktown, Va.), Casey Deeds (Monument, Colo.), Fran Tew (Suffolk, England).

“This Stanford field hockey class is an ideal fit to continue the scholar-athlete legacy at Stanford,” said head coach Tara Danielson, who enters her fourth season. “This class brings a competitiveness and enthusiasm that will thrive in our program. We are excited to welcome this class into our program.”

Bassi, a 5-7 forward, is a product of nearby St. Francis High School and standout multi-sport athlete, also earning varsity letters in track and field and soccer. Bassi was a member of the 2011 National Futures Championship team in Amsterdam and a Futures participant from 2011-13. A first-team all-league selection and San Jose Mercury News First Team honoree during her senior year, Bassi also guided the Lancers to a Central Coast Section (CCS) title as a junior. Bassi, who was a member of the San Jose Fly field hockey club U19 program from 2011-13, served as team captain in field hockey and track and field. A member of the National Honors Society and California Scholarship Federation (CSF), Bassi was an NFHCA Gladiator National Academic Squad selection and honored as the 2012-13 St. Francis High School Athlete of the Year.

A 5-4 midfielder, Beaudoin attended Grafton High School, where she also competed in soccer, swimming and track and field. A three-time all-district and all-region selection, Beaudoin was also recognized as an all-state performer during her final two seasons. She led the Clippers to a pair of state tournament runner-up finishes, one quarterfinal appearance and Region 1 title as a sophomore. Beaudoin, a Futures Elite participant during each of the last two years, was a member of the two-time defending National Indoor Tournament championship squad. Beaudoin was recently selected to be part of the 2013 Junior National Camp. A two-time medalist at the Commonwealth Games, she also claimed a title with the 2012 National Club Championship team. A two-time first-team all-state honoree in track and field, Beaudoin’s academic accolades include membership in the National Honors Society and Math Honor Society. She also served as SCA Vice President for three years.

Deeds, a 5-6 forward, prepped at Palmer Ridge High School, where she served as team captain during her final two seasons in addition to earning varsity letters in lacrosse and track and field. Deeds guided the Bears to four consecutive appearances in the state playoffs, improving each year with a quarterfinal showing in 2010, semifinal effort in 2011 and runner-up finish in 2012. A two-time Colorado Springs Gazette Player of the Year selection, Deeds was also a three-time all-state honoree, earning first-team accolades as a junior and senior. During her senior year, Deeds registered 12 goals and a state-leading 21 assists, totaling 45 points. Active in the community, Deeds initiated a team service project called Field Hockey For Food, promoting awareness of the sport while generating proceeds, supplies and donations for a local food bank.

A 5-6 defender, Tew is the latest heralded international product to join the Cardinal program, arriving on The Farm from Ipswich School in Suffolk, England. Tew, who recently qualified for England’s Junior World Cup Team, possesses a wealth of national team experience as a member of England’s U16, U18 and U21 squads. Tew was a standout performer at the Ipswich School, recognized as a two-time first-team selection and MVP in her final season. She also led her team to fourth-place finishes or higher in both the National Indoor and Outdoor Finals for three straight years. Tew was the leading goal scorer at Ipswich School and Ipswich Hockey Club, compiling 150 goals from 2011-13. Additionally, Tew was also an accomplished multi-sport athlete, finishing as the intra-school champion in the javelin (2012-13), 1500-m (2013) and cross country (2013).
