Junior driver Kiley Neushul was named MPSF/KAP 7 Player of the Week Monday after helping lead the second-ranked Cardinal to its fifth straight Stanford Invitational title.
Neushul scored 11 goals over Stanford’s four wins at the event, as the Cardinal (4-0) clinched the crown with an 8-4 win over No. 3 UCLA Sunday afternoon. The Goleta, Calif. native scored the opener in the second half of the title game, spurring a four-goal run for the Cardinal that opened a one-goal game at halftime into a 7-2 lead with 5:36 remaining.
Neushul opened the weekend with five goals in Saturday morning’s 16-3 win over No. 17 UC Davis then added another hat trick in the afternoon’s 16-5 win over No. 6 Hawai’i. She would score twice in Sunday morning’s 13-9 win over No. 5 UC Irvine to send the Cardinal into the title game.
Stanford is idle this weekend and returns to action Feb. 12 at Santa Clara.
