STANFORD, Calif. -- Eighteen Stanford runners were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic teams for cross country, the conference announced Wednesday.
Three Cardinal -- Michael Atchoo, Marco Bertolotti, and Kevin Bishop -- were named to the men's first team, and four (three men, one woman) were named to the second teams. Also, nine Stanford women were named honorable mention and two men.
Bishop, a sophomore from nearby Los Altos, carries a 3.79 cumulative grade-point average. Bertolotti, a mechanical engineering major, has a 3.46 and Atchoo, a biomechanical engineering major, has a 3.42.
Men's second team selections were sophomore Justin Brinkley (3.57), senior Tyler Stutzman (3.32), and sophomore Garrett Sweatt (3.57). Senior Tate Murray (3.64) was a women's second-team choice.
To be eligible for selection, the student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, be at least sophomore, and be a significant contributor to the team.
