STANFORD, Calif. -- The 2014 NCAA West Regional cross country meet will be run at Stanford, the NCAA announced on Wednesday.
The Stanford Golf Course will be the site of the regionals on Nov. 14, 2014. It will be one of nine regionals contested across the country. The top two teams in each of the men's and women's races will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Terre Haute, Ind. The men will run 10 kilometes (6.2 miles) and the women 6K (3.73 miles).
This will be the 13th time the men's regional will be at Stanford and the seventh for the women. Stanford last hosted in 2011. The Stanford men, the two-time defending champion, have won two of the regional home meets, as have the Cardinal women.
Also announced were most of the sites for the NCAA cross country and track championships for the next several years.
The cross country nationals will be in Terre Haute in 2014 and 2016, and in Louisville, Ky., in 2017. The 2015 site has yet to be determined.
The indoor track and field nationals will be in Fayetteville, Ark., in 2015, in Birmingham, Ala., in 2016, and College Station, Texas, in 2017-18.
The outdoor track nationals were announced for Eugene, Ore., from 2015-21. It already will hold this year's meet, as it did last season.
