STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 12 Stanford men’s rowing team will try and maintain its consistency this Sunday at the Pac-12 Championships.

Since the 2006 season, the Cardinal has finished third at the Pac-12 Championships in six of the seven years. Stanford was third each of the last two seasons.

Heading into the 2014 conference regatta, the top two teams in the nation are from the Pac-12. Washington received all 13 first place votes in the latest poll, while Cal sits at No. 2 overall. Those two schools are expected to battle it out for the top two spots. Stanford and No. 14 Oregon State are also among the top 20 in the rankings, while Colorado and Washington State round out the field.

Stanford’s varsity eight and frosh eight is seeded third heading into the weekend, while the second varsity eight and varsity four is seeded fourth.

The Cardinal’s highest finish at the Pac-12 Championships is second place. Stanford was the runner-up in 1993 and tied for second in 1968.

Last year at the Pac-12 Championships the Cardinal varsity eight took silver, overtaking Cal at the finish. The second varsity eight finished third, the frosh eight sixth and the varsity four fifth overall.

Times for this weekend’s men’s races are 9:15 a.m. for the frosh eight, 9:45 a.m. for the varsity four, 10:15 a.m. for the second varsity eight and 10:45 a.m. for the varsity eight.
