Stanford men’s soccer landed a conference-best 10 student-athletes to the Pac-12 All-Academic Teams, the conference announced.
Highlighted the Cardinal selections were senior defender Ty Conklin and midfielder Austin Meyer, who were each named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team.
Seniors Drew Hutchins and JJ Koval along with sophomore midfielder Ty Thompson were named to the second team, while Zach Batteer, Jimmy Callinan, Aaron Kovar, Eric Verso and Brandon Vincent all were named honorable mention.
For Koval it is his third all-academic honor from the conference, having been named honorable mention in 2011 and 2012. Conklin and Meyer were named to the first team for the second year in a row, while Hutchins made the second team for the second straight season. Batteer, Callinan and Verso also earned their second honor in a row.
Kovar, Thompson and Vincent each earned their first all-academic recognition from the conference.Stanford (9-6-4) continues its run in the NCAA Tournament Sunday night with a 7 p.m. match at 15th-seeded Cal State Northridge. The Cardinal advanced past Loyola Marymount in Friday’s first round on penalty kicks, winning the shootout 3-2 after the teams played to a 1-1 draw through 110 minutes.
