PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Saturday marked the second day of the CSA Individual Championships in Philadelphia, Pa. as Stanford had two individuals remaining in the Holleran Cup.

Both freshman CC Ho and senior Serena Fagan lost on Saturday, ending their respective seasons.

Ho made it to the quarterfinals after defeating No. 48 Melina Turk of Dartmouth for the third time this season. Ho needed just three sets to put Turk away, winning 11-8, 11-6, 11-8. Ho then faced No. 43 Rachel Scherman of Cornell in a match that went five sets.

Scherman edged Ho in the first set, 12-10, in a set that was crucial to the match. Ho went on to win each of the next two sets to take the advantage. Scherman then came back to win the final two and move on.

Ho’s outstanding freshman campaign came to a close after she was the first Stanford freshman to go to the individual championships since Pamela Chua in 2010. She ended the year with a 9-7 overall record.

Fagan lost in the round of 16, falling to No. 42 Lindsay Seginson of Cornell in her first match of the day. Seginson won in three sets to advance, while Fagan ended her Stanford career. In her final season on The Farm, Fagan tallied a record of 7-9 while helping lead the Cardinal to a seventh place finish in the Howe Cup.

Only Fagan and Julia Hemmendinger were seniors on this year’s squad. The roster coming back for 2014-15 will feature the majority of the Cardinal’s lineup from this season.
