STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford sophomore fencer Vivian Kong was named to the CollegeFencing360.com Primetime Performers Weekly Honor Roll for her performance at the Western Invitational three weeks ago.
Kong posted a 16-2 individual record in the epee while leading the epee group to a 6-0 mark. As a team Stanford went 4-2 on the weekend that included a dual with Northwestern on the night of Friday Jan. 10 and five matches in the Western Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 11.
The only two defeats for Kong came against Northwestern, who is now ranked No. 7 in the nation. She lost her first match of the season and then her second of three bouts in the second meeting with Northwestern. Following her second loss she rattled off 13 straight victories to close out the tournament.
Kong and the rest of the Stanford fencing team will be back in action this weekend at the Northwestern Duals in Evanston, Ill. The two-day competition features some of the top-ranked teams in the country.
