PARIS, France – Sophomore Alexander Massialas was eliminated in the round of 32 on Saturday at the Challenge International de Paris.
The individual portion of the first big international competition of the season was held Saturday. Massialas would end up 18th overall after he lost to Erwan Le Pechoux of France, 15-6, in his second match of the day.
Massialas earned a win in the round of 64, his first bout of the Paris event. He defeated Mortiz Kroeplin by a count of 15-9. Massialas was one of four U.S. fencers to finish in the top 20. France’s Enzo Lefort won the gold medal.
On Sunday, Massialas will be back in action as he competes for the USA in the team competition. The U.S. won the team gold in last year’s Challenge International de Paris.
