WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – One current rower and one signee competed against each other on Monday at the Senior 1 World Championships Trials on Mercer Lake.
Rising senior Nancy Miles was in the lane next to incoming freshman Devin Norder, while two members of the Stanford lightweight rowing team Katherine Christel and Jackie Huddle were on the other side. All three boats were racing in the Women’s Ltwt B 2x Heat 1 event.
Stanford was well represented in the event with rowers in three of the four boats. In the end, it was the youngest rower who came out on top. Norder’s boat took first with a time of 7:17.66. They were three seconds ahead of Miles’ boat, which crossed in 7:20.86 for second place. Christel and Huddle finished in fourth place.
Norder will automatically move on to the finals. She will race again on Wednesday at 8:50 a.m. ET. Miles slides down to the reps on Tuesday at 9:38 a.m. ET where she once again races against Christel and Huddle for a spot in the finals.
