Senior forward Chiney Ogwumike of the Stanford women's basketball team was named Muscle Milk Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 16-22.
Ogwumike helped the No. 6/5 Cardinal finish up a perfect 3-0 home stand last week with wins over New Mexico and No. 3/3 Tennessee. In Saturday's victory over the Lady Volunteers, Ogwumike posted the first 30/20 game of her career, scoring 32 points with a season-high 20 rebounds as Stanford claimed its third straight win over Tennessee, 76-70.
It was Ogwumike's second 32-point effort of the week, as she hit that total last Monday in Stanford's 73-45 win over New Mexico. For the week, Ogwumike averaged 32.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and shot 63.0 percent (29-for-46) en route to also capturing her fourth Pac-12 Player of the Week honor of the season Monday, and her second-career espnW National Player of the Week honor late Sunday.
Stanford (10-1) moved up to No. 4 in Monday's Associated Press Poll, and this Saturday will close out the non-conference portion of its schedule, visiting Fresno State for a 6 p.m. tip.
