Anthony Kimble Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Spetember 29, 2008

Senior running back Anthony Kimble (Baton Rouge, La.), who ran for a career high 157 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns in Stanford's 35-28 win at Washington on Saturday, has been selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Athlete of the week for September 22-27, 2008.

Kimble's 157 rushing yards marked the 21st-best single-game rushing performance in school history and the best rushing output since J.R. Lemon finished with 162 yards against Washington in 2004. Kimble's 83-yard touchdown run in the third quarter tied for the fifth-longest touchdown run from scrimmage in school history, matching Buck Fawcett's 1941 jaunt against Santa Clara.

Stanford is 3-2 on the season and 2-1 in the Pac-10 Conference heading into Saturday's non-conference game at Notre Dame.

Also nominated were Bobby Warshaw (men's soccer), Kelley O'Hara (women's soccer), Midori Uehara (field hockey), Sydney Burlison (women's golf), Laurynne Chetelat (women's cross country), Chris Derrick (men's cross country) and Cynthia Barboza (women's volleyball).
