Senior John Moore has been selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 19 ?“ Oct. 25. Moore led Stanford to a 2-0 win over No. 2 UCLA on Sunday at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. Moore made nine saves to control the attack of the Bruins. Included in the saves were two free kicks where Moore was forced into diving saves to preserve the shutout. Moore also played a crucial role in shutting down the UCLA air game, coming out to intercept crosses.
The shutout was the sixth of the season for Moore and the 15th of his career. He lowered his goals against average to 0.90 for the season. He improved his record to 9-4-1 on the season, having played every minute in goal for the Cardinal during its 2009 campaign.
This was the second career Stanford/Muscle Milk honor for Moore. He was the inaugural winner of the award back in 2006. Moore and the No. 21 men?™s soccer team will next travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on Oregon State and Washington this weekend.
