STANFORD, Calif. - Senior outside hitter Alix Klineman has been named the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the Cardinal to Pac-10 Conference wins at Arizona State and Arizona last weekend. She averaged 8.57 kills, 3.86 digs and 9.00 points per set, while hitting .475 in the two matches.
Klineman posted career numbers on Friday against the Sun Devils registering career highs of 39 kills on 74 attempts with just two errors for a .500 attack percentage. She also added a season-best 18 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Her 39 kills tied Logan Tom for the second-most kills in school history in a single match, and are the most kills recorded by a Pac-10 player this season.
A native of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Klineman followed up her performance against ASU with 21 kills, nine digs, a solo block and an ace at Arizona on Sunday. In conference only matches, Klineman leads the league in kills and points, while ranking third in hitting percentage and eighth in digs.
This marks the fifth Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor for the senior.
Up next, Stanford hosts Oregon State and No. 11 Oregon for its Pac-10 home openers this weekend. The Cardinal will face the Beavers on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m., before taking on the Ducks on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.
