Press Named Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

muscle milk logoSTANFORD, Calif. - Senior Christen Press (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Chadwick School) of the No. 2 Stanford women's soccer team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of September 13-19.

Press scored five goals in two games at the Santa Clara Classic and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Press had three goals and one assist in the first 32 minutes of Stanford's 6-1 victory over Utah on Friday. It marked the first collegiate hat trick for the senior forward and her seven-point effort was the highest for a Stanford player since 1994.

Press followed with two goals in a 2-0 victory over No. 15 Georgetown, giving her 10 goals this season, tying her for the national lead. Press moved into a tie for second on Stanford's all-time scoring list and is third on the school career goals list.

This is Press' second Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor and the first for the women's soccer team in the 2010 season. Press and the Cardinal boast a 6-0-2 overall record heading into this weekend's home matches against Hawaii on Thursday, and No. 3 Portland on Saturday at 7 p.m.
