STANFORD, Calif. - Redshirt sophomore two-meter Forrest Watkins of the men's water polo team has been named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 31-Nov. 6.
This is Watkins' first career Muscle Milk honor and the second for the Stanford men's water polo team this season. Alex Bowen earned the honor on Oct. 3.
Watkins scored four times over No. 4 Stanford's road MPSF wins at No. 7 Long Beach State and No. 6 UC Irvine last weekend. He scored twice in each contest, and on Sunday at UC Irvine netted the Cardinal's first two goals to help the team climb out of a two-goal hole and defeat the Anteaters.
Stanford (16-4, 5-2 MPSF) has won seven of its past eight contests and hosts two non-conference games this weekend at Avery Aquatic Center. The Cardinal opens the weekend Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against South Bay rival Santa Clara, then closes things with UC Davis Sunday at 12 noon.
