Freshman Kaley Dodson (Seal Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) of the top-ranked Stanford women's water polo team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 31-Feb. 6.
Dodson continued her strong collegiate debut in 2011 at the Stanford Invitational this past weekend, scoring a total of six goals, including the tournament-winner with 16 seconds left in the second sudden-death period of overtime against USC which gave the Cardinal its second straight tournament title.
The freshman driver scored five goals in Sunday's two games, including a hat trick in a 16-4 win over San Jose State, and two scores in the title game against No. 2 USC. Already this season, Dodson has scored 12 goals as the Cardinal has gotten off to an 8-0 start.
This week's Muscle Milk honor is the first of Dodson's career and the first this season for the Cardinal women's water polo team.
