Senior Elliott Heath (Winona, Minn. / Winona High School) of the Stanford men's cross country team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of October 25-31.
Heath won the Pac-10 individual title at the 2010 Pac-10 Championships to lead Stanford to its second-straight conference title. Heath led the Stanford 1-2-3 sweep with teammates Jacob Riley and Chris Derrick. His time of 23:00.46 was just hundredths ahead of his two teammates, but all three were five seconds clear of its closest competitor from another school.
Heath also finished as the runner-up at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational as a part of a 1-2-3 sweep with Derrick and Riley. The trio has led Stanford to its No. 1 national ranking and undefeated record this season.
It was the first individual Pac-10 title for Heath, who became the sixth Stanford male to win an individual Pac-10 title in cross country. This is the first career Stanford/Muscle Milk award for Heath. He has now joined his brother Garrett Heath who earned the honor after running 3:58.71 in the mile, indoors, in 2008.
Also nominated: Gabi Ailes (women's volleyball), Becky Dru (field hockey), Kathy Kroeger (women's cross country), Andrew Luck (football), Molly McKinney (sailing), Christen Press (women's soccer), Jeffrey Schwimer (men's water polo), Ryan Thomas (men's soccer), Andrew Yun (men's golf).
