STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford synchronized swimmer Olivia Morgan has been named the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the Cardinal to its first U.S. Collegiate National title since 2008.
Morgan, a native of Lafayette, Calif., was a member of the team, trio and duet national champion swims for the Cardinal at the 2013 U.C. Collegiate Nationals, held at the Avery Aquatics Center, March 21-23. The senior was the overall individual high point champion at the event and secured All-America honors.
Stanford captured its seventh Collegiate National title over the weekend for first-year head coach Sara Lowe, who was a member of four-straight U.S. Collegiate championships as a Cardinal from 2005-08.
It is the first Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor for Morgan and the first by a Cardinal synchronized swimmer in program history. Prior to today's honor, synchro was one of eight teams on campus which have never captured a Muscle Milk award.
